Everything that kills me makes me feel alive
I don't know if anyone here has seen the Bollywood adaptation of P&P, Bride and Prejudice, but I thought it was really great!

I haven't seen the 2005 version yet, but when I was watching the extra features on the DVD, the director mentioned that Jane Austen Society of North America had given the film a big thumbs up! (Whereas with the 2005 version they gave it the big thumbs down)

It is a musical, so that already adds to the cheese factor, but it is really cute. You kind of have to go into it with the open mind that it is Bollywood and meant to be a little over the top. The director even noted that the India version is even more cheesy with longer songs!! Plus, Darcy is pretty hot and there is some fun Indian dancing. Even a cameo from Alexis Bledel! And I think Mr. Collins in B&P is much cuter and less slimy...which is kind of an ok change, because Charlotte is a lot more endearing in this adaptation.

So for all of you who have been disillusioned by Keira Knightley's version of Elizabeth, I'd urge you to check this out...I've seen it at rental places, and I got it from the library.

P.S. When I was researching B&P I found out that there is a version of P&P from the Church of Latter Day Saints....has anyone seen that one!? I have serious questions about the quality of acting, LOL.
